4,070 confirmed with COVID-19 on Feb. 21

COVID-19has been confirmed for 4,070 people in the state today. Outbreaks were reported in Kozhikode 552, Ernakulam 514, Kottayam 440, Pathanamthitta 391, Thrissur 361, Malappuram 346, Kollam 334, Alappuzha 290, Thiruvananthapuram 266, Kannur 167, Palakkad 129, Kasaragod 100, Idukki 97 and Wayanad 83 districts.
No one from the UK has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 86 people who recently came from the UK. Of these, 72 tested negative. A total of 10 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
A total of 57,241 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 7.11. A total of 1,10,30,136 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing. It has been confirmed that 15 deaths in the last few days are due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4,089. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Sixty-eight of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 3704 people were infected through contact. The contact source for 269 is not clear. Kozhikode 540, Ernakulam 480, Kottayam 405, Pathanamthitta 351, Thrissur 355, Malappuram 337, Kollam 330, Alappuzha 288, Thiruvananthapuram 171, Kannur 134, Palakkad 63, Kasaragod 83, Idukki 90 and Wayanad 77 were affected by the disease.
Twenty-nine health workers were affected by the disease. Kottayam 9, Ernakulam, Kannur 5 each, Kollam 3, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kasaragod 2 each and Wayanad 1 were affected by the disease.
The test results of 4, 345 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 370, Kollam 254, Pathanamthitta 299, Alappuzha 375, Kottayam 212, Idukki 153, Ernakulam 500, Thrissur 450, Palakkad 183, Malappuram 535, Kozhikode 652, Wayanad 122, Kannur 149 and Kasaragod 91 had negative results today. With this, 58,313 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 9,71,975 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,46,811 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,37,660 are under home / institutional quarantine and 9,151 in hospitals. A total of 966 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are eight new hotspots and two areas were excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 372 hotspots.
