2,776 more infected with COVID-19 in Kerala; death toll touches 4,271

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 2,776 people in Kerala on March 5. Outbreaks were reported in Kozhikode 358, Malappuram 298, Ernakulam 291, Thrissur 283, Kollam 232, Alappuzha 207, Thiruvananthapuram 190, Kottayam 185, Pathanamthitta 183, Kannur 175, Kasaragod 125, Idukki 93, Palakkad 89 and Wayanad 67.

COVID-19 has not been confirmed in the last 24 hours by anyone from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 99 people from the UK (98) and South Africa (1). Of these, 83 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

A total of 66,103 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 4.20. A total of 1,17,79,163 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed that 16 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4,271.

Sixty-six of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 2,504 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 196 people is not clear. Kozhikode 331, Malappuram 288, Ernakulam 273, Thrissur 279, Kollam 230, Alappuzha 196, Thiruvananthapuram 140, Kottayam 175, Pathanamthitta 159, Kannur 133, Kasaragod 115, Idukki 87, Palakkad 36 and Wayanad 62 were affected by the disease.

Ten health workers were affected by the disease. Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kannur 2 each, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Idukki and Kasaragod 1 each were affected by the disease.

The test results of 3638 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 337, Kollam 156, Pathanamthitta 388, Alappuzha 307, Kottayam 313, Idukki 75, Ernakulam 561, Thrissur 308, Palakkad 131, Malappuram 196, Kozhikode 377, Wayanad 117, Kannur 223 and Kasaragod 149 had negative results. With this, 43,562 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 10,24,309 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,80,107 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 1,73,736 are under home / institutional quarantine and 6,371 are under hospital surveillance. About 660 people were admitted to hospitals.

There is a new hot spot and two areas were excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently 357 hotspots.
