2,375 test positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 25; 10 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 2,375 people in the State on August 25 while 1,456 test results of those who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
The district-wise break-up of those affected are 454 in Malappuram district, 391 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 260 in Kozhikode district, 227 in Thrissur district, 170 in Alappuzha district, 163 in Ernakulam district, 152 in Palakkad district, 150 in Kannur district, 99 in Kasaragod district, 93 in Pathanamthitta district, 87 in Kollam district, 86 in Kottayam district, 37 in Wayanad district and six in Idukki district.

On August 25, 10 deaths have been confirmed due to COVID-19. Abdu Rahman (70), a native of Valluvambram, Malappuram, who died on August 24; PP. Gireesh (49) of Olavanna, Kozhikode, Kuttyappu (72), a native of Pukayoor, Malappuram, who died on August 11; Krishnakumar (58), a native of Kulasekharam, Thiruvananthapuram who died on August 23; Thomas (81), a native of Piravanoor, Kollam; Krishnan (54), a native of Nooranad, Alappuzha, who died on August 22; Rajalakshmi (63) from Ayur, Alappuzha who died on August 22; Thankamma (78) from Cherthala; and Krishnan Thampi (80) from Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram, were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 244. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Of those diagnosed today, 61 came from foreign countries and 118 from other states. 2142 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 174 of them is not clear. 413 persons from Malappuram district, 378 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 243 persons from Kozhikode district, 220 persons from Thrissur district, 156 persons from Alappuzha district, 133 persons from Kannur district, 128 persons from Ernakulam district, 109 persons from Palakkad district and 109 persons from Kasaragod district. 98 persons from Pathanamthitta district, 63 persons from Kollam and Kottayam districts, 26 persons from Wayanad district and 5 persons from Idukki district were affected by the disease on the day.

Forty-nine health workers are affected by the disease on the day. The disease affected 15 people in Malappuram district, 11 in Ernakulam district, 10 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 5 in Kannur district, 3 in Pathanamthitta district, 2 in Thrissur district and 1 each in Kollam, Palakkad and Kasaragod districts. Five INHS in Ernakulam District Employees were also affected by the disease.

With this, 21,232 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 40,343 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,83,794 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of those under observation, 1,66,784 are under home / institutional quarantine and 17,010 are under observation in hospitals. On August 25, 1,834 people were admitted to the hospital.

At the same time, inspections have increased. 34,344 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. A total of 14,84,907 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,66,945 samples were sent for testing from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact.

On August 25 there are 10 new hotspots and 14 areas have been excluded from the hotspot.
