1,938 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala on March 1

A total of 1,938 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on March 1. The test positivity rate was recorded at 4.21 percent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Kozhikode – 380, Malappuram – 241, Ernakulam – 240, Kannur – 198, Alappuzha – 137, Kollam – 128, Thiruvananthapuram – 118, Thrissur – 107, Kottayam – 103, Kasaragod – 71, Pathanamthitta – 62, Wayanad – 62, Palakkad – 56 and Idukki – 35.

Meanwhile, none of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 94 UK returnees tested positive for the virus infection. 82 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.

45,995 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,15,22,279 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Trunat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.

Thirteen deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,210.

Fifty six of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 1,743 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 124 persons remains unidentified.
