COVID-19 has been confirmed for 1,412 people in Kerala on March 8. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Kozhikode 245, Kollam 141, Thiruvananthapuram 139, Ernakulam 138, Malappuram 132, Idukki 104, Thrissur 90, Kannur 82, Kottayam 80, Alappuzha 79, Palakkad 55, Kasaragod 48, Pathanamthitta 48 and Wayanad 31.
Another man from South Africa was confirmed to have COVID-19 within the last 24 hours. At the same time, no one from the UK has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, COVID-19 has so far been confirmed for 100 people who recently came from the UK (98) and South Africa (2). Of these, 83 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
During the last 24 hours, 39,046 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 3.62. A total of 1,19,31,921 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 12 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4,312.
Today, 37 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 1,252 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 117 is not clear. Kozhikode 229, Kollam 139, Thiruvananthapuram 86, Ernakulam 130, Malappuram 127, Idukki 100, Thrissur 83, Kannur 65, Kottayam 73, Alappuzha 76, Palakkad 26, Kasaragod 45, Pathanamthitta 42 and Wayanad 31 were affected by the disease.
Six health workers were affected by the disease. Health workers from Thrissur 2, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur 1 each contracted the disease.
The test results of 3,030 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 153, Kollam 467, Pathanamthitta 131, Alappuzha 217, Kottayam 186, Idukki 44, Ernakulam 329, Thrissur 304, Palakkad 106, Malappuram 249, Kozhikode 527, Wayanad 104, Kannur 121 and Kasaragod 92 were negative today. With this, 39,236 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 10,34,895 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,68,505 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,62,993 are under home / institutional quarantine and 5,512 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 616 people were admitted to hospitals.
No new hotspot was reported and no area has been excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 356 hotspots.
