1,184 people confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Aug. 10

Seven people were confirmed as having died from COVID-19 on August 10, the highest confirmed on a single day in Kerala, on August 10. A total of 1,184 people were confirmed with COVID-19 on the day, of which 956 were cases of infection through contact and the sources were not clear in 114 of the cases, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

Forty-one health workers were also infected with COVID-19 on the day while 784 patients were cured.

The district-wise breakup of the infected are 255 in Malappuram district, 200 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 147 in Palakkad district, 146 in Kasargod district, 101 in Ernakulam district, 66 in Kozhikode district, 63 in Kannur district, 40 each in Kottayam and Trissur districts, 33 in Wayanad district, 30 in Alappuzha district, 21 in Kollam district, 10 in Idukki district and 4 in Pathanamthitta district.

New large clusters are likely to form in Thiruvananthapuram and COVID has been spreading among the guest workers in Kozhikode.

IG S Sreejith has been put in charge of the coastal areas in Thiriuvananthapuram and IG Harshita Ataloori has been put in charge of Thiruvananthapuram rural district to control the spread COVID-19
